Showering Momma & Baby King

The day my bestie shared the news with me that she was preggo I was OVERJOYED!!!! She is absolutely the kindest, most generous person I have ever met and she deserved all the best that the world could give! Immediately, I started planning her shower in my head. It was evident that the theme would be vintage; after all, it was she who inspired me to love the mix of vintage treasures with modern decor years ago.

So I went home that day and created a secret pin board on Pinterest. I wanted everything to be a surprise - she deserved the best (especially after throwing me the most lovely bridal shower I had ever been to)! I found some inspiration and started collecting gorgeous treasures while on my regular outings.

A good friend of the momma-to-be offered to host the shower at her home and it provided the most wonderful backdrop for the loving day. With the help of some of her closest friends, we were able to create a beautiful shower to celebrate Momma & Baby King.

Mom & Dad-to-be decided not to learn the gender of baby King until birth, so as the guests arrived, each lady chose a straw to represent their guess. Team Boy? Or Team Girl? The results were about half & half.

Vintage baby clothes hung from the drink bar.

Each table setting featured an eclectic mix of vintage china, glassware & linens. Some items were treasured pieces from my grandmother's collection which made it even more special.

When it came to planning the menu, we wanted to incorporate some of Momma King's favorites. For her love of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, we created bite size PB&J sushi rolls....inspired from Pinterest of course! Vintage platters, silver trays, pie plates, cake stands, food scales & tea towels worked to create the table scape for the food spread.

In attempt to stray from the traditional pink & blue gender neutral shower colors, I opted for mint & peach. The bakery didn't quite get the entire memo, but nonetheless....how stinkin' cute are these petit fours?

Time for the beautiful Momma-to-be to open gifts!

Most everyone I know, including the lady of honor, hates sitting in the spotlight with everyone's eyes focused on you while opening gifts. To prevent this awkward moment, and to make the gift-opening portion of the shower more enjoyable for everyone involved, I incorporated a trick I learned at my bridal shower. Attached to each guest's champagne glass was a name card, and on the back was either A) a question to ask the momma-to-be, or B) a question for the guest in which they would share their thoughts/advice/experience. It was a big hit with everyone in the crowd!

From personalized keepsakes to the must-haves for baby, a lot of love was shared.

Everything came together so well and I could not have been more delighted with the results. I loved every moment of pulling this together - just another confirmation to myself that I really have found my passion.
