ISABELLE & DANIEL
A rustic & relaxed weekend of celebration on their family farm
PHOTOGRAPHY: L Photographie
I first met Isabelle & her darling mom, Mary, in the early stages of their planning journey. They were seeking support in planning a weekend of celebration on their family's property in central Missouri. The property which they lovingly refer to as The Farm wasn't really a farm at all. It was more of a tranquil oasis set in the middle of nowhere. The babbling creek that ran along the edge of the property was a personal favorite of mine; it was so peaceful. The Farm has played a pivotal role for everyone in their family. It's been host to a myriad of family gatherings since Mary was a child and was central to Isabelle's childhood memories. She wanted to share the magic that can only be experienced there with those she loved most and allow them to experience the relaxation that comes with being together on the property. It was the perfect place for her & Daniel to come together and officially start their future as a married couple. Family is precious to both of them and they each possess a sense of adventure & love for the outdoors. Wanting to channel in the natural beauty of the farm, Friday night's celebration was curated with backyard barbeque vibes in mind. From the checkered tablecloths adorned with arrangements of sunflowers and bottles of Jack Daniels to the bluegrass band and yard games that kept guests entertained all evening, the theme was absolutely achieved. When a chance of showers threatened to put a damper on our mainly outdoor affair, I was concerned we'd be forced to enact our Plan B. Mary assured me not to worry, handed me a huge box of clear ponchos and confidently said, "Everyone can just wear these. It will be fine." I expected some push back as sprinkles began to fall, but to my delight guests eagerly grabbed a poncho and donned it all night never letting the mist that came and went damper any of their plans to enjoy the night.
As the sun rose on Saturday, Isabelle & Daniel's friends and family grabbed a breakfast burrito before gathering for a lively game of kickball. When that wrapped, everyone disbursed to freshen up & get ready for the big day. Guests began to arrive and were ushered to the ceremony space. A chuppah was set just behind the chapel that Isabelle's grandfather built, setting the stage to perfectly blend their faiths. Each guest's chair featured a noisemaker or confetti cannon to enhance their union & create the most incredible recessional following their "I do's." The event flowed toward the back of the property for cocktail hour; cocktails and hors d'oeuvres greeted guests as they made their way toward the tent. Wildflower style arrangements were enhanced with punchy florals and adorned each of the tables alongside wooden boxes which served two functions. In addition to complimenting the rustic decor vibes, they offered an elevated place for the various platters that would be set during their family style meal service. After whole-hearted toasts from their parents & siblings, the party kicked off and the dance floor was full for the remainder of the night.
