The biggest perk of my job is the wonderful friendships that are created. This was especially true while working with this couple. From the beginning, Jamie & I seemed like childhood friends. Heck, we even spoke in the same sarcastic banter. I knew that this wedding was going to be an amazing one to be part of, and I was right.
I first met the happy couple at the Off White Indie Wedding Show
side bar: this year's Off White Indie Wedding Show is coming up April 27th & promises to be a hit. Come check it out!
Jamie and I met shortly after and discussed her hopes for an outdoor wedding that would incorporate a barn setting. After visiting almost every barn (or barn-like) venue within 2 hours of St. Louis, they determined that none of them really fit the bill. So, we searched for other options and they decided that the courtyard at the Lemp Mansion would be the perfect place to host their ceremony, and they would celebrate at the lofts afterward.
Jamie planned to have a little vintage glam in her big day, but didn't want overkill. She wanted to have touches sprinkled throughout her wedding & reception while also mixing with a modern color pallete. With some vintage pieces from my collection alongside some DIY craft projects she provided, the end result was gorgeous. Oh, and she asked me to do her reception flowers too - I'm really digging these opportunities to play with such pretty things!!!
The cake table was dressed with a collection of picture frames that Jamie painted to provide the pop of teal & yellow along with a canvas featuring a collection of doilies.
We went back and forth deciding how we would display the table numbers. Keeping in theme with the lace-filled embroidery hoops that were featured at the entrance, Jamie provided me with table numbers fashioned in the same style. Before the big day, she let me know that the stands she hoped to set these on were not cooperating, and the hoops would not stay in place. They kept falling over and she was worried how we would make it work. I assured her I'd figure something out, so to keep in theme I decided to suspend them over the center of each table. It ended up being a sweet touch.
It was a pleasure working with Jamie & Jeff to make their wedding day one they would never forget. They are a very special couple with a beautiful future ahead of them. I'm sure of it.
