When Katie + Luke started dating, Luke hated the Blues. Now, before you shun him from St. Louis society, Katie brought her love of the team full force and turned him into a fan when they were dating. So, the fact that the Blues were doing so well in the playoffs when they got married was huge for them—so much so that Blues banners were hung at the reception and "Gloria" was played at their wedding. Twice.
Their whole day was so uniquely them and far from traditional which we were completely on board with. Katie and Luke, while a bit reserved in their personas, are quite bold when it comes to style and they wanted help to incorporate gobs of color into the day. So, needless to say, we were beyond thrilled. Katie's gals each chose a dress in a jewel tone hue. Bold linens in pattern, color and texture dressed up the cocktail style reception. And we gave Flowers & Weeds creative freedom to work with a gorgeous and vibrant color palette. As always, they didn't disappoint. But the most unique and memorable part? The unity ceremony was personalized to highlight their green thumbs. Instead of the traditional candles, they elected to plant a tree using soil from each of their parent's homes. During the ceremony, both sets of parents came up and Katie + Luke planted the sapling into a pot, pouring in the soil from each home as a symbol of bringing their families together. Cue: the tears.
It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience and one we were happy to help plan! Congratulations again, Katie + Luke!
