We met Kathleen + Edward last year and their love story is something you read about in books and see in movies, not something that you get to hear about in person. The two met in high school and according to Edward, he had a crush on her throughout but was way too shy to say anything, until (!!) they reconnected at a class reunion a few years ago. Edward finally got his chance to ask her out and they have been inseparable ever since.
When they came to us to help manage their wedding, the two biggest things that stood out during the meeting were 1. the wedding was to be the party of a lifetime and 2) their love of their cats. Yes, cats were to be a major theme throughout, so we set to work.
The wedding was unlike any we’ve done before—it was a show-stopping, jaw dropping, extravaganza. It was everything Edward + Kathleen wanted and more. It started with a cocktail hour on the first floor gallery of the venue. The tables were draped in black microsuede and the entire space was filled with candles.
When the guests moved upstairs, they were transported in a fairy-like garden with hanging greenery and amber uplighting to create a dramatic and enchanting hallway before heading to the rooftop sunset ceremony. The backdrop of Kathleen + Edward saying ‘I do’ was a giant half-moon marquee adorned with lush greenery. The light shone in just the right way that you could have sworn Edward orchestrated the sun to be in the perfect position when they said their vows.
Kathleen walked down the aisle to the tune of ‘Holly Holy’ by Neil Diamond holding one of the most beautiful bouquets we’ve ever seen. While the wedding was filled with natural colors of greenery, moss, and touches of metallic, the bouquet added a bold pop of color to the garden theme. Both Edward + Kathleen made sure very specific songs were played throughout the ceremony and the touches at each and every point of the day created a very personal, moving, and once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere.
If you think that’s all, you haven’t been paying attention—there was a purr-fect surprise for the pair and their love of cats. While there were cat elements throughout the day with the cake and table decor, Edward (who joked in meetings with us about wanting a surprise cat performance) was surprised by a local dancer from Talent Plus that came dressed like a ballerina cat!
Kathleen + Edward’s whimsical, garden wedding was magic. From the decor and seeing everyone’s reactions to the space to the end of the night with everyone dancing beneath the stars of the city like an end scene in a romcom, it will be one that is forever imprinted on our hearts. Congratulations, Kathleen + Edward! Thank you SO much for letting us be part of your day.
Of course, NONE of this could have been done without the incredible vendors we got to work with.
